Abstract Red Riding Hood   Motion Design

September 2022

Instructor: Jake Matauch
An experimental video created to develop a narrative and communicate its meaning through motion graphics, overall composition, form, color, animation, metaphor, and music.

For my video’s narrative, I decided to abstractly represent the well-known short story “Red Riding Hood”. The smooth, red ball is Red Riding Hood, the jagged, textured ball is the Big Bad Wolf, and the bright, yellow ball is the grandmother. The audio "Chim Chim Cheree" by the John Coltrane Quartet, adds tension throughout the piece. As the story reaches its climax, where the Big Bad Wolf eats the grandmother, the music builds to John Coltrane's saxophone solo.
